Spey Rods
Spey rods range in length from around 11'6" to 17' and are designed to be cast with two hands. Spey casting with these long rods was developed in Scotland on the River Spey where it was necessary to throw a lot of line with a minimal back cast. Two Handed or Spey casting did not start to gain popularity in the United States Pacific Northwest until the late 1980's on Washington's Skagit River. Today fishing two handed Spey rods has grown throughout the world and these rods are being used to catch a variety of game fish. In the Pacific Northwest Spey rods are most notably used for Steelhead fishing. While each Spey rod has its own unique character, each rod favors certain types of lines. For the beginner to the advanced two handed Spey caster we have one of the largest Spey rod inventory to choose from anywhere.
